This article will teach you how to see which friends are active on Facebook Messenger.

Method 1 of 2: By using a phone or tablet

1. Open Facebook Messenger. It's an icon with a blue bubble with a white lightning bolt in it. You will find it on your home screen or in your apps folder (Android).
   • If you are not already logged in, follow the on-screen guidelines to sign up now.
2. Click on the icon for contacts. This icon looks like a list and is located at the bottom of the page, to the right of the big blue circle.
3. Click the Active button. This is located at the top of the screen. This will display a list of everyone active on Messenger. When a friend is online you will see a green circle on top of their profile picture.

Method 2 of 2: By using a computer

1. In your browser, go to https://www.messenger.com. This is the official Messenger app from Facebook.
2. Log in to your Facebook account. If you are already signed in, you will see a list of recent Messenger conversations. Otherwise, you have to click on Continue as (your name) or enter your login information when prompted.
3. Click on the blue gear icon. It is located in the top left corner of the screen.
4. Click the Active Contacts button. You will now be a list of your Messenger contacts that are active online.
   • If you only see your own name, then you must set the corresponding switch to ON (green). Now your online contacts will appear.
