uTorrent is a simple bittorrent client. uTorrent is number two when it comes to the most used bittorrent clients in the world, only the Chinese Xunlei has more users. uTorrent is specially designed to minimize the load on your system and to be easy to use. This makes it easy to configure uTorrent in such a way that your upload and download speeds are optimal.

To step

1. Open uTorrent. You open the program by clicking on "Start" and then clicking on uTorrent. On a Mac, click uTorrent in the Applications folder.
2. Open the "Preferences" menu. Go to Options> Preferences.
3. Configure the connection. Click on "Connection" in the left column. Set 443 as the incoming port and check "Enable UPnP port mapping" and "Enable NAT-PMP port mapping". Leave the other options as they are.
4. Configure the bandwidth settings. Click on "Bandwidth" in the left column. Set the "Maximum download rate" to "0", that means there is no limit for the download speed. If you want to use your computer while downloading, you better set a maximum value.
   • The download speed is partly determined by the number of uploads. So if you want to download quickly, make sure you are "seeding" a lot of files.
   • Leave the 3 options under "Number of Connections" as they are.
5. Configure the BitTorrent settings. Select the option "BitTorrent". Then check everything except "Limit local peer bandwidth". At the option "Outgoing Protocol Encryption" select "Enabled".
6. Configure the "Queuing" settings. Finally click on "Queuing". Enter a number for the number of active torrents allowed, depending on your use of torrents. Set "Seed While" to at least 100 percent and 0 minutes. Then you can be sure that your program will seed enough torrents to maintain an optimal download speed.
7. Click on "Apply" when you have changed all the settings as desired.

Tips

• Seed as many torrents as possible, then you have an optimal download speed.
• Write down the values ​​of the settings before changing them. Then you can always return to the default settings later.
