Yoga is a real art. Yoga calms the mind, body and soul. If you want to know how to do basic yoga exercises, then read on.

Steps

  1. 1 Make sure you have everything you need for the session. A list of required items is provided at the end of this article.
  2. 2 Warm up with stretching exercises. A few minutes are enough for this. Do not eat two hours before yoga practice.
  3. 3 Lotus position is one of the easiest yoga poses. Just place your feet on top of your thighs. If you find it difficult, try the following:
    • Perform half lotus pose by simply crossing your legs as if you were just sitting.
  4. 4 Dead man pose - also a good and simple pose. Just lie on your back and straighten your arms and legs. Take a deep breath and watch your breathing - this is a great exercise to calm yourself down.
  5. 5 The cat and cow pose is performed in motion. Put your knees on the floor and arch your back - this is the cat's pose. To perform cow pose, bend backwards. Repeat the exercise several times.
  6. 6 Mountain pose is also a simple pose. Stand up straight, close your eyes and put your palms together on your chest as if in prayer.
  7. 7 Practice yoga and you will succeed!

Tips

  • Try to breathe deeply and don't do extraneous things while you practice.
  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  • Before starting your yoga session, calm down, take a deep breath and exhale slowly 5 times. If you are aroused and unable to calm down, try breathing in and out 10 to 15 times.
  • Make sure you do all the poses correctly or you risk injury.
  • Contact your yoga instructor if you want to know more. Moreover, the instructor will teach you how to perform the poses correctly, which is not so easy to do over the Internet.

Warnings

  • Don't overload yourself. Stretching too deep can cause injury. Don't strive to do more than you can. Drink more water and eat healthy foods!
