Call forwarding to another phone number can increase your availability; especially if you plan to be away from a phone that is forwarding calls to another number for an extended period of time. Examples of times in which you might want to forward calls are when you are on vacation or have an emergency that requires you to be away from your home phone. To forward calls from your home phone or landline to your mobile phone, you must first check with your landline service provider to verify that call forwarding is a matter of choice. In most cases, you can enter numeric codes using your home phone to initiate a diversion.However, the exact codes may vary depending on the landline service provider and the region in which you live. Method 1 of 3: Check with your landline phone provider
1 Check with your home phone service provider to make sure you can activate call forwarding. Your ability to forward calls from your home phone may depend on your current data plan, or the capabilities of your telephone company. 
2 Ask your telephone company to confirm the charges and fees associated with call forwarding. Some service providers may include call forwarding functionality in your current data plan; while other companies may charge extra per minute for all calls that have been forwarded. 
3 Get instructions on how to activate and deactivate call forwarding. The exact procedure for call forwarding may vary depending on where you live. In most parts of North America, you can turn call forwarding on or off by entering some number commands using the phone keypad.
Method 2 of 3: Activate Call Forwarding
1 Turn on the dial tone (dial tone) of your home phone. This can be achieved by lifting the handset or pressing the call button on your cordless telephone. 
2 Type or click on the star button followed by 7 and 2.
3 Listen for the dial tone after entering the code.
4 Enter the 10-digit mobile phone number to which you would like to direct calls from your home phone.
5 Dial or press the hash button to initiate call forwarding when you have finished entering your mobile phone number. Going forward, when people dial your home phone number, their calls will instead be routed directly to your cell phone. - In some cases, you may receive an automatic reply that confirms that you have activated the call forwarding service.
Method 3 of 3: Disabling Call Forwarding
1 Get a dial tone on your home phone.
2 Use the keyboard on your phone to enter or dial an asterisk followed by the numbers 7 and 3. Your call forwarding will now be disabled and any calls that were previously routed to your mobile phone will now ring your home phone.
Tips
- If you need to forward calls to your mobile phone only when your home phone is busy, or when there is no answer, enter an asterisk followed by 6 and 8 instead of an asterisk -7-2. This feature can be disabled later by entering asterisk -8-8.
