1 Use the right shampoo and conditioner. Curly hair can dry out and frizz, so it's important to choose products that won't harm them. It is best to use a sulfate-free moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.- Do not buy products with silicone - this substance prevents moisture from penetrating into the hair structure.
- Some shampoos and conditioners are specifically designed for wavy hair. They are optional, but you can try them to see if they will make your curls more defined.
- Leave-in conditioners are also suitable for wavy hair because they keep the hair smooth and moist throughout the day. If you use a regular conditioner, don't rinse it off completely - leave it on your hair.
- Don't overdo it - just a small amount of these funds is enough.
- If you can't take cold showers, try washing your hair in the sink. Wear a shower cap in the shower to protect your hair from hot water.
- Microfiber towels are not as harmful to curls as regular towels and absorb more moisture than T-shirts.
- Top it off with a special gel. It can be spread with your fingers or rubbed into your hair. Make sure that the product reaches all over your hair from roots to ends. When you're done, run your fingers through your hair to shape the curls.
- Do not blow dry your hair unless absolutely necessary. Leave the hairdryer only for special occasions, as frequent blow-drying is harmful.
- Curly hair often takes a very long time to dry because it is very thick and thick. If you don't have time to wait for them to dry on their own, use a hair dryer with a diffuser at minimum power.
- Higher drying temperatures will make curls shiny.
- If you want your hair to lie in waves and not curls, do not curl it with a diffuser - just run it through your hair.
- To give your curls more definition, you can apply a little serum or wax to your curls.
- Dry your hair, comb to one side and divide into two equal parts, without throwing it over to the other side.
- Twist each piece, starting at the roots and ending at the ends. Twist both sides of the hair to the same side.
- Twist the resulting bundles together in the opposite direction, starting at the roots. In other words, if you originally curled it clockwise (right), now start curling your hair counterclockwise (left).
- Secure the end with an elastic band. If the color of the elastic is similar to the color of the hair, the elastic will not be as noticeable in the hair.
- Roll the resulting tourniquet into a bundle at the base of the head, tilt it slightly to one side and secure with hairpins.
- Place the headband under your hair so that it wraps around your head under the occipital bone.
- Tuck the hair under the bandage in strands of 2.5 to 5 centimeters, starting at the areas behind the ears. After passing one strand, twist it to make a curl. Do the same with all the hairs until they are all under the bandage.
- If necessary, secure the bandage with invisibility.
- The bandage will be visible from the front.
- Gather the hair at the back of your head. Use a comb to smooth the sides and back of the hair.
- Tie up your hair with a rubber band.
- Throw your hair forward and tuck it under the elastic, and then secure the roller with invisible ones.
- To hide the elastic, wrap it in thin strands and pin them with invisible ones.
- Braid a section that is 2.5 to 5 centimeters wide, starting at the area behind your left ear. Guide the braid back and secure the end with a small sheer elastic band.
- Do the same on the other side.
- Pull the left pigtail towards your right ear with your head wrapped around the back. Secure with invisible ones.
- Do the same on the other side. Hide the end of the braid under the second braid. Secure with invisible ones.
Method 2 of 2: Get the right haircut
- 1 Find a hairdresser who knows how to work with curly hair. Cutting such hair is difficult, so the master must clearly understand how to work with different types of curly hair. Fortunately, getting the right haircut is half the battle in styling your wavy hair. With the right haircut, you might suddenly fall in love with your curls.
- Ask a friend with curly hair to advise you on a master. If you suddenly see someone with gorgeous curls, don't be afraid to ask which artist did this hairstyle. Chances are good that the person will be flattered.
- Search the internet for the addresses of salons or the contacts of hairdressers who specialize in curly hair. Read reviews and check prices.
- 2 Head to the salon with freshly washed hair. It is important for the hairdresser to know how your hair looks without styling so that he can decide how to cut you.
- Wash your hair in the morning or in the evening and dry it naturally.
- Do not use oils or products containing silicone.
- 3 Trim your hair before dyeing. Although in salons they usually do the opposite (first dye, then cut), curly hair should be dyed first so that the shape is visible.
- 4 Cut your hair dry. Each curl has its own shape and weight, and this is visible only when the hair is dry. A hairdresser will need to see each curl to understand how all of the hair will fold into a hairstyle, so it is best to cut dry hair curl by curl.
- 5 Get the right cascading haircut. If you want to wear long hair, ask your hairdresser to leave one long layer so the hair doesn't fall off under your weight. But remember that they should not be too short, as short strands weigh little and will stick out in different directions.
- 6 Use gentle hair dyes. Curly hair is more vulnerable than straight hair, and the chemicals in the dye disrupt the structure of the hair, causing it to frizz. If you want to dye your hair, choose a color that is only a couple of tones different from your hair color, and gradually move on to other colors.
- For example, instead of going from a dark brunette to a platinum blonde right away, try dyeing your hair in an intermediate color first.
- 7 Ask the master to dry your hair with curls. You will need to see a curly hairstyle to know if you like the cut, so after trimming your hair should be dried with a diffuser or a stationary hairdryer. Resist the temptation to straighten your hair while drying.
Tips
- If you live in a particularly humid climate, try to find a hair product that will withstand the moisture. Most of these products have the consistency of a diluted gel.
- Try moisturizing your hair with coconut oil from roots to ends. Comb through your hair with a wide-toothed comb to remove tangles. After two hours, wash your hair with a mild shampoo. You can also leave the oil on overnight.
- To achieve maximum volume at the roots, collect the hair with a diffuser at the head and begin to make circular movements with a small radius.
- Don't wash your hair every day - only do it when necessary.
- Collect your hair overnight to preserve curls and keep your hair from frizzing.
- Dry your hair naturally, apply an anti-frizz serum and do not touch your hair until the hair is dry.
- To make the curls more expressive, use a curling iron. If in some places the curls look unwound or sloppy, twist them with a curling iron.
- Sleep on a silk pillowcase - this fabric does not cause frizz or straighten curls, unlike cotton and other fabrics.
