Do you want to sew a hair tie that matches your hair color? We will tell you how to do it.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Reshaping the hair elastic
- 1 Find a rubber hair tie.
- 2 Measure its circumference.
- 3 Cut a rectangle out of the fabric 3-4 times longer than the unstretched circumference of the elastic and 7.5-12.5 cm wide.
- 4 Fold the rectangle face in and sew along the short cuts to form a large ring.
- 5 Wrap the fabric ring around the elastic, folding the fabric with the wrong side in and facing out.
- 6 Pin together the raw sections.
- 7 Using a tuck-in sewing machine, sew a folded seam to hide the raw edges of the fabric.
- Note: This can also be done by hand, or you can pre-roll the cuts inward and put a simple seam on top. The main thing is to hide the raw sections when stitching.
- 8 Now you can wear your new elastic to match your hair.
Method 2 of 2: Sewing a rubber band from scratch
- 1 Take out a piece of fabric that is about the same size as in the first option.
- 2 Fold it in half lengthwise with the right side inward and sew along long cuts.
- 3 Now perform the slightly complex operation of turning the resulting tube out onto the front side through itself.
- 4 Take a piece of elastic of the size you need.
- 5 Attach a safety pin to the end of the elastic and use it to pass the elastic through the fabric tube. Watch out for the ponytail of the elastic.
- 6 Sew the ends of the elastic and then the ends of the fabric tube.
- 7 Ready.
