Thailand has long attracted foreigners not only as a popular holiday destination, but also as a country where you can find relatively good employment. According to official figures from local authorities, Thailand employs several million workers from overseas. But in order to find a job in the Kingdom, you need to make some effort.

Steps

1. 1 Decide on the desired profession. There are several nuances to consider here:
   • Thailand has a list of prohibited professions for foreigners. Attempts to work in any of the professions on this list can result in heavy fines and even imprisonment.
   • Before choosing a profession from the available ones, find out which professions are most in demand in Thailand. In particular, these include the following:
     • Translators and English teachers, mostly in private schools.
     • Photographers (there is a lot of competition here).
     • Certain tourism professions, such as diving instructors (certification required) or hotel workers in charge of meeting and escorting tourists.
     • Experienced engineers, including those in the petrochemical and automotive industries.
     • Financiers and bankers - as a rule, to work in representative offices of foreign companies or financial and credit institutions.
     • Models, fashion models (you need to know English and be responsible when choosing an employer, otherwise you can get into a house of tolerance, of which there are a lot in Thailand).
2. 2 Choose where you would like to work geographically. The most interesting places for foreigners wishing to find a job are the following places:
   • Bangkok - in general, foreigners can apply here for vacancies of office workers and middle managers.
   • Pattaya - mostly travel jobs. Here you can find work in beauty and massage parlors, hotels, hotel complexes. Unlike Bangkok, Pattaya is hard to find more prestigious and highly paid jobs.
   • Phuket - one of the most demanded for foreigners is the profession of a translator. But in order to get this position, in addition to all the listed documents, a TEFL certificate is also required. There are also quite attractive conditions for starting your own business.
   • Koh Samui - since the island has recently begun to actively develop (since the 70s of the last century), it is a little easier to find work here than in other cities. On Koh Samui, professions in the tourism sector are also in demand.
3. 3 Find a suitable vacancy. There are several ways here too:
   • Contact recruiting agencies. Here you will be offered various options, taking into account your wishes, knowledge, experience and qualifications. The agencies also undertake all negotiations with employers, including the financial side of the issue.
   • Read job advertisements in Thai newspapers such as Bangkok Daily and Bangkok Post.
   • Visit the official website of the Thailand Employment Department, various popular job search sites and international employment resources.
   • Register on the professional social network linkedin.com.

Tips

• Legal registration requires knowledge of a foreign language (English or Thai) plus experience and relevant qualifications.
• The average salary in the Kingdom does not exceed 12 thousand baht. And this applies to the local population; citizens of other states receive, as a rule, less. One of the most common occupations for girls and boys here is considered to be working as a waiter, where the average earnings are in the range of 5-7 thousand
• If the goal of your employment in Thailand is to earn as much money as possible, then you should consider options in Bangkok. It has the highest wages in the country.
