DVDs are used all over the world and many people like them very much. Unfortunately, most DVDs have a region code, which prevents them from playing in a DVD player with a different code. In this article, you will learn how to change the region code in a DVD drive on Windows 10. On most drives, the region code can be changed a limited number of times, so be careful if you plan to change it frequently.

Steps

1. 1 Open File Explorer.
2. 2 Find your DVD drive under Devices and Disks. Right-click on the drive and select Properties.
3. 3 In the window that appears, go to the "Hardware" tab.
4. 4 Click on the device that is listed as DVD and CD-ROM drives. Then click on the "Properties" button at the bottom of the window. The drive name will depend on the type of drive installed on your computer.
5. 5 Wait for a new window to appear with the name of the drive in the title bar. Click on the "DVD Region" tab.
6. 6 Find the DVD Region tab. Click on the region that matches the DVD region code to which you want to change the drive code. The bottom of the window will show the current region code and the new region code to which the drive will switch.
7. 7 Click OK.

Tips

• Not all drives can change the region. Some come from the manufacturer with the region change function disabled.

Warnings

• On most drives, the region code can be changed a limited number of times, after which this function will be disabled. This number is recorded on the drive itself and cannot be reset even if you reinstall the operating system or install the drive on another computer.
