This wikiHow teaches you how to close open or background apps on Samsung Galaxy device.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Close Recently accessed apps on Galaxy S5 or later

1. 

   Click on the recently accessed apps button. This button is to the left of the Home button on the device's screen. A list of programs that you have recently accessed but have not closed will appear.

   Scroll over the apps. Scroll until you find the app you want to close.

   Tap and drag the app. Drag one or more apps that you want to close towards the side of the screen. The app you drag from the screen closes.
   • Or you can click on the mark X in the top-right corner of any app you want to close.
   • To close all open apps at the same time, tap Close All (Close All) at the bottom of the screen.

Method 2 of 3: Close Recently visited apps on Galaxy S4

   Go to the Home screen on Samsung Galaxy.

2. 

   Hold down the Home key on your device. A list of all the programs that you have recently accessed but have not closed will appear.

   Scroll over the apps. Scroll until you find the app you want to close.

   Tap and drag the app. Drag one or more apps that you want to close towards the side of the screen. The app you drag from the screen closes.
   • To close all open applications at the same time, tap the icon Remove All in the lower right corner of the screen.

Method 3 of 3: Close the application running in the background

1. 

   Go to the Home screen on Samsung Galaxy.

2. 

   Open the Task Manager (Smart Manager on Galaxy S7).
   • On Galaxy S4: Hold down the Home key on the device, then tap Task Manager appears in the lower left corner of the screen.
   • On Galaxy S5-S6: Press the Recent Apps button. This button is to the left of the Home key on the device's surface. Click Task Manager in the lower left corner of the screen.
   • On the Galaxy S7: Swipe down from the top edge of the screen. Press the button ⚙️ on the top edge of the screen and open Settings (Settings), then select Smart Manager and RAM.

   Press the button End (End) is next to each running application. Please click End for each application to be closed.
   • To close all apps at once, tap End all (End of all).

• Before closing or ending specific applications, you need to make sure you have saved important data, otherwise any unsaved changes will be canceled as soon as the application is closed.
