Making Skittles vodka is the ideal way to add a fruity flavor to vodka. And it's easy too! You throw your favorite Skittles into a glass or bottle of vodka and wait for the fruity flavor to soak into the drink. You can then drink your Skittles vodka as a shot, but you can also use it to give mixed drinks a bright color. In this article you will find different methods to make Skittles vodka. Get started quickly and in no time you will taste a rainbow of flavors!

Ingredients

  • A bottle of vodka of about 1.75 liters per bag of Skittles
  • A large bag of Skittles (weighing about 1.2 pounds)

To step

Method 1 of 3: One serving (25ml shot)

  1. Sort the Skittles by color and select the colors you want to mix with the vodka. Many people keep the green and purple Skittles separate because the lime and grape flavor can cause an unpleasant aftertaste and color. If you like these flavors, you can of course just use them. If you don't mind mixing fruit flavors, you can skip this step.
  2. Add six Skittles to 25ml of vodka. Stir the mixture until the Skittles are almost completely dissolved. The number of Skittles per shot differs per recipe. So you will have to experiment yourself to find the perfect mix before you start with larger bottles.
  3. Strain the mixture to remove the remaining pieces of Skittle. By making different shots, you can find out which flavor combination is your favorite. You can then make bottles of this.

Method 2 of 3: Bottles of Skittles vodka

  1. Pour some vodka into a glass to make room for Skittles.
  2. Sort the Skittles by color.
  3. Add about 20 to 25 Skittles per 350ml of vodka to the bottle.
  4. Leave the mixture on for a day or two. Shake the bottle from time to time so that the flavors mix well.
  5. Strain the drink to remove the remaining pieces of Skittles. You can also use a coffee filter or clean T-shirt for this.
  6. Keep the drink in the refrigerator.

Method 3 of 3: The dishwasher method

  1. Sort 200 grams of Skittles by color.
  2. Use 5 bottles of 700ml, pour 300ml of vodka into a jug and fill all bottles with Skittles.
  3. Put the bottles in your dishwasher and let it run.
    • About a third of the time, pause the dishwasher and shake the bottles.
    • About two-thirds of the time, pause the dishwasher again and shake the bottles.
  4. When the dishwasher is ready, shake the bottles well. Then put them in the freezer for 2 hours.
  5. Once cold, the vodka should have taken on a syrup-like texture. Strain the liquid to remove any remaining pieces of Skittle.
  6. Rinse the bottle and pour the Skittles vodka back in.
  7. Strain all vodka and clean all bottles. Do not always use the same filter; then you run the risk of the colors mixing.
  8. Freeze all the bottles until you feel like some fruity vodka. Don't worry, the vodka doesn't freeze.
  9. Ready! You now only have to enjoy your homemade drink.

Tips

  • If you want to speed up the process a bit, you can cut the Skittles in half before tossing them into the vodka. Shake the bottle every 15 minutes and the candies will be dissolved within an hour. You can of course also filter the Skittles out of the bottle once the color has soaked into the vodka.
  • The lime-flavored green Skittles give the vodka a tart flavor. If you prefer sweets, it is better not to use the green Skittles.
  • First, make some shots to try out flavor combinations. You can then make bottles of your favorite flavors.
  • You can also take a different approach and buy five bottles of vodka and five bags of Skittles. Sort the candies by color and make a bottle of vodka from each color. (Or buy four bottles of vodka and an empty bottle; the vodka to make room for the Skittles can then be poured into the empty bottle.)
  • If you use a T-shirt to filter the vodka, make sure that no fabric softener has been used when washing the shirt. If it does, your vodka will have a chemical aftertaste.

Warnings

  • Handle alcohol responsibly. Don't get behind the wheel after drinking vodka. Know your limits and don't drink too much.
  • Only drink alcohol if you are old enough to do so.

Necessities

  • You need a large bag of Skittles per 1.75 liters of vodka. So if you want to make a bottle of each color, you will have to buy five bags of Skittles.
  • Coffee filter or clean T-shirt
  • Large funnel or strainer
