Papayas were cultivated in Mexico many centuries ago and have become a popular delicacy worldwide. The fruits have the same shape as eggplants and have a mottled green skin. The inner pulp is bright orange. Papayas are an excellent source of fiber, potassium, vitamin A and vitamin C. In this article you can learn how to cut a papaya and how to prepare the fruit in three ways: in a salad, in a smoothie and in a sorbet .
To step
- Serve the smoothie. Pour it into a glass and drink it through a straw, or eat it with a spoon if you've made the smoothie extra thick.
Tips
- If you cut a still green papaya in half, a white, viscous, sticky liquid could seep out. It is difficult to remove this liquid from your countertop. So make sure you use a cutting board when cutting a papaya.
Warnings
- Be careful when cutting a papaya with a knife. Since papayas are soft, the knife can easily slip.
