This is a fairly easy job. You just need a sewing machine, some pins and a mirror (or girlfriend).

To step

  1. Put the dress inside out.
  2. Grab the amount of fabric you want to take in on both sides of the waist.
  3. Place the first pin where most of the fabric is to be ingested.
  4. Pin this way along the entire seam until you get the right fit.
  5. Take off the dress and pull a thread along the line with pins.
  6. Put the dress back on - this time right side out to see if the fit is right, and try on things that aren't right yet.
  7. Sew over the basting stitch with the sewing machine.
  8. Take out the basting thread.
  9. Try on the dress again.
  10. Trim the excess fabric, leaving about 2 inches.
  11. Press the seam open so that it is nice and flat.
  12. Ready!

Warnings

  • When basting, make sure that the seam ends in nothingness at the end of the portion you are taking in.
  • Be careful not to prick yourself with the pins when putting on or taking off the dress. If you did prick yourself, disinfect the wound and put a gauze or bandage on it so that no blood gets on the dress.
