Nothing spoils the great taste of smoking more than a dirty bong. Fortunately, cleaning a bong is not that difficult if you make sure you do this often. You can keep your best friend shiny clean by using the methods in this article. Then take a few puffs to reward yourself for the hard work you put in.

To step

Method 1 of 2: Cleaning the main part

  1. Take the bong apart. Take the bong apart so that you can clean the individual parts. Remove all loose parts, especially the glass cone and mouthpiece, if there is one.
  2. Rinse the bong. First rinse the bong with water as much as possible and then let the bong dry. Make the water as hot as you can tolerate without dropping the bong.
  3. Pour in salt. Pour Epsom salt or table salt into the cone and mouthpiece. You can use a funnel if that makes it easier. Use as much salt as is appropriate for the size of your bong. For an average bong you need about 80 to 120 milligrams of salt.
    • You can also use baking soda if you like the taste better.
  4. Pour your cleaning solution into your bong. Pour a decent amount of the cleaning solution of your choice into the bong. The amount depends on the size of your bong. A good amount to start with is 120 milliliters, but you should experiment with this.
    • Some people use isopropyl alcohol, others use cleaning agents such as an all-purpose cleaner (not recommended). Some people prefer natural products such as vinegar, and others prefer something with a good taste like Listerine.
  5. Shake! Cover all openings with your hands so that the liquid does not come out and shake your bong for at least five minutes. The more you shake the better.
  6. Rinse your bong and repeat the process. Pour the cleaning solution into a sink and rinse your bong completely. Repeat the cleaning process as often as necessary, but usually once is enough. The more often you clean your bong, the less time you spend cleaning each time.
  7. Use cleaning aids as needed. You can use pipe cleaners, test tube brushes, cotton swabs, and other tools to scrub stubborn areas well.

Method 2 of 2: Clean tricky areas

  1. Bend a clothes hanger. Bend an iron wire clothes hanger in half and twist the wire a few times to reduce the distance.
  2. Add a few pieces of paper towel. Fold some paper towels in half and wrap them around the twisted clothes hanger. Make sure that the pieces of paper towel stick out a bit more from the end of the clothes hanger.
  3. Attach the paper towels. Secure the paper towels to the clothes hanger with an elastic.
  4. Bend your tool into shape. Bend the end of the twisted clothes hanger into the shape of the letter "J."
  5. Add detergent. Soak the paper towels in isopropyl alcohol or another cleaner of your choice.
  6. Clean the dirty spots. Scrub up and down the inside of your bong with the clothes hanger. Adjust the angle of the curved coat hanger as needed so you can get into all the nooks and crannies.

Tips

  • Cotton swabs and baby bottle brushes (especially pacifier brushes) are also good tools for removing residue from hard-to-reach areas.

Warnings

  • Do not use dish soap to clean a bong. Your treks will taste like Palmolive for a month.
  • Most cleaners are flammable. So never use them while smoking.
  • If you are using methylated spirits, make sure to clean your bong in a well-ventilated area.
