We've all had it. You are just about to go out, you feel good, and then suddenly see a crazy eyebrow. You can learn to pluck your eyebrows to control them, as well as several quick methods to tame those annoying hairs when you're short on time.

To step

Method 1 of 2: Epilate your eyebrows

  1. Determine what shape your eyebrows need to be to match your face. Take a pencil and hold it vertically on one side of your nose. Where your pencil lies between your eyebrows is where the eyebrow should go on that side. If your eyebrow is shorter than where the pencil ends, you can draw it in lightly with an eyebrow pencil or powder.
    • Then turn the pencil on your nose towards the eye on that side while keeping the bottom of your pencil on your nostril. Once your pencil crosses over your pupil, stop and see where the pencil goes. The arch of your eyebrow should be where the pencil stopped above your pupil.
    • Finally, keep the bottom of the pencil on your nostril and keep turning your pencil to the outer corner of the eye on that side. Where your pencil lands should be the end of your eyebrow. As with the beginning of your eyebrow, you can always draw in the end if it doesn't reach the pencil. When it gets past the pencil, epilate to where you feel comfortable.
  2. Epilate any loose hair that is not in your ideal eyebrow. Using tweezers and a magnifying mirror, gently remove any hair outside the line of your drawn eyebrow. Match the curve of the bottom of the eyebrow with the top. The end of the eyebrow should be around the end of your eye socket.
    • Don't thin the head of your eyebrows. That must be the thickest part. Also, don't remove hair from the top of the eyebrow unless you have some really weird hairs. Use the natural shape of the top of the brow to shape the arch.
  3. Start at the bottom of the brow. Go slow and pause to see how thin they get. Don't overdo it. After you've neater the bottom row of hair, look at the top of your eyebrows. Many salons say you shouldn't pluck the top of your eyebrows, but it can be useful for those who have "pointed" eyebrows. Epilating the loose hairs from the top will make your eyebrows look neater.
  4. Gently touch up your brows. If you are doing this at home, you will need to use an eyebrow brush to brush up your brow hairs. While holding the hair up, cut the hairs that are sticking up above your eyebrow with scissors. Be careful not to cut them too short. Repeat this process while brushing and cutting the hair down.
    • While it is possible to do at home, it is recommended that you see a professional to avoid accidentally cutting your hair and creating a "hole" in your eyebrow.
  5. Make your eyebrows slightly different. Your eyebrows don't have to be identical. Use the differences in their natural shape and the location of your nose and eyes to guide the epilation. Unlike most makeup looks, finish one eyebrow before starting the other. At the end you can compare them and make sure they match.

Method 2 of 2: Using other methods

  1. Use a toothbrush as a comb. Pour some water over an old toothbrush and then shake off most of the water. Dry the bristles even more by placing your finger on top and sliding down firmly while pressing. You just want to get it moist. Then take the (prepared) toothbrush and comb your eyebrows into shape.
    • Use only the top of the bristles to get the arch and corner of your brow right. You don't have to do it all over again for the second eyebrow; you can just comb it.
    • If your eyebrows are really wild, put a very little hairspray on them as well.
  2. Epilate quickly. Use an eyebrow pencil to draw the shape you want. Then use tweezers to remove the hairs that don't belong and quickly comb your eyebrows with a dry toothbrush. Fill in gaps with an eyebrow pencil and then smooth it out to blend it with the rest of your brow.
    • Make sure that those very long hairs don't come off the center at the edge. If so, you can cut them, but make sure to keep everything even.
    • Take a magnifying mirror to help with this process. This really helps find some of those little annoying hairs.
  3. Wax your eyebrows. Use resin strips at home, not cold or warm resin because of the potential danger to your eyes. If you decide to do a full waxing, watch videos on how to draw eyebrows to get it right and try different ways on the weekends. Make them look natural and go for a pencil color that matches your hair color.
    • Take it easy with the waxing. It's easy to go too far and you'll end up looking like a witch.
  4. Consider going to a professional waxing salon. Most nail salons offer this service and it is usually inexpensive. However, it is best to ask your friends if they recommend a local salon, as bad wax can be very painful. After waxing, the beautician will use some cream and pluck away any loose hair. This is a great option if you want to shape your eyebrows but don't know how to get the look you want.
  5. Use conditioner in the shower. It may sound silly, but putting a little bit of conditioner on your brows will help make them look smoother and shinier and will make them easier to tame when you get out of the shower.

Tips

  • If you can't find Vaseline, sticky cream can too.
  • If your eyebrows are trimmed, you should repeat all steps about every two months.
  • Be patient.Brows takes a while to update.

Warnings

  • Only epilate if you know what you are doing.
  • Never shave your eyebrows. That will look bad.
